OTTAWA, December 16, 2022 – Calian® Group Ltd. (TSX: CGY), a diverse products and services company providing innovative healthcare, communications, learning, IT and cybersecurity solutions, today announced an investment in Field Effect Software. Calian joined a financing group led by Edison Partners, a prominent U.S. growth equity investment firm, and Round13 Growth Fund, a highly respected, late-stage Canadian growth equity investment fund in this latest round that raised a total of US$34.5 million.
Calian has long been building not only its network of technology partners, but its affiliate program to enhance its IT and Cyber solutions (ITCS) offering. Of particular interest, is Field Effect’s Cyber Range® — a simulation-based cyber security training platform used to grow individual skills, rehearse incident response, and train teams. Businesses of all sizes rely on Field Effect’s solutions to enhance their cyber security posture.
“The cyber security skills gap is widening, and organizations are struggling to find and hire analysts with the right expertise to secure their assets. There are simply too many open roles and too few candidates,” said Sacha Gera, President of ITCS at Calian. “We see the investment in Field Effect as a way to enhance our solution set and begin to address this gap for our growing customer base including governments and defence agencies.”
Since acquiring Computex in May of this year, Calian now counts an additional 1,100 customers as part of that base. The acquisition marked the beginning of a strategic move for Calian to further expand into the US market, while continuing to build out the ITCS portfolio in Canada and around the world.
